We are sorry to inform you that we had to postpone the event scheduled for Monday, June 27. Two of the key persons have unfortunately fallen ill, so that the high-level discussion and on-site exchange can unfortunately not be realized. We are sorry to have to make such an announcement and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause in your planning. As soon as a new date has been set, we will inform you immediately and hope to be welcoming you on this occasion.

Japan and Germany aim to become GHG-neutral by 2045 and 2050 respectively. Both are committed to implementing the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) including efforts for efficient use of resources and sustainable production methods.

Especially for energy-intensive industries (steel, cement, chemicals), complete decarbonization is a major challenge. On the one hand, large quantities of “green” electricity are needed, while on the other hand, material cycles must be closed. While “old” businesses vanish, new markets are to be developed. In this transformation process, industries need ambitious strategies, but also political roadmaps and a reliable as well as transparent framework.

An increasing number of investors base their decisions on aspects of sustainability and efforts towards decarbonization. Benchmarks and guidelines for ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) reports by companies already exist. However, ecological, and social values and contributions are not reflected in the actual figures (accounting and balance sheet) of the companies, thus making it rather difficult to assess the company’s contribution for a carbon free future.

We are honored to welcome outstanding experts on this topic to jointly discuss transforming industries for our sustainable future:

  • Ms. Saori Dubourg (Member of the Board of Executive Directors BASF SE / Member of the German Council for Sustainable Development)
  • Mr. Yoshihiro Ikegawa (Executive Vice President, Mitsubishi Chemicals)
  • Mr. Christian Heller (CEO, Value Balancing Alliance)
  • Keynote "ESG Performances and Green Investments": Gerhard Wiesheu, Chairman, DJW
