The Japanese Market for Solar Thermal Energy

Hannover

Market information, potentials and opportunities for German companies

How German companies can get involved in the solar thermal market in Japan was demonstrated by ECOS at a one-day seminar in October 2009 at the Hanover Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The speakers not only offered an overview of the fields of solar thermal energy use (focus on low temperature solar thermal energy). They also explained the energy policy measures to promote renewable energies in Japan. With reference to practical experiences and best practice examples, they gave the participants tips on how to enter the market.

Background information: Japan has a high potential in terms of energy production through solar thermal energy. However, this potential is still partly untapped, which is why experts forecast high growth for the Japanese solar thermal market. This is also an exciting field for investment and commitment for German companies. Particularly as new subsidy programs at the time of the seminar provided new impetus for the market.

ECOS organized the seminar on behalf of and with the support of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology and Germany Trade and Invest. Cooperation partners of the German Solar Industry Association (BSW), the Hanover Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) and the Solar Systems Institute, Japan.
