2. German-Japanese Environment and Energy Dialogue Forum, 2009

Tokyo

Efficient energy storage and distribution as key to climate protection

After the successful First German-Japanese Environmental and Energy Dialogue Forum on "Strategies and Technologies for a Sustainable Energy Supply" held in Osnabrück in September 2007 dealt with energy generation from sun and biomass, the follow-up event in June 2009 focused on the integration of "renewables" into the grid structure.

This time the German and Japanese experts from politics, research and industry met at the International Forum in Tokyo. The focus was on three topics: "smart grids", "effective electricity storage technology" and "efficient power supply in buildings using heat pump technology".

The main cooperation partners were NEDO on the Japanese side and the German Federal Environmental Foundation (Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt - DBU) on the German side.
